Primary School Design Competition

This primary school concept was developed for a select competition, with an innovative layout that integrates and responds to its landscape.

The school is sectioned into three hubs:

The first hub offers a generous and welcoming main entrance, signifying the importance of the school within the community. The hub comprises a cluster of administration and meeting rooms as well as the Head Teacher’s office. The main hall is located close to the entrance and is configured to allow out-of-hours access for the community without opening the entire school.

The second hub and heart of the school provides classrooms for KS1 on the ground floor, and KS2 on the first floor, designed around a central learning resource area and science/DT practical space.

A smaller third hub has been designed to accommodate the youngest pupils, comprising a nursery, reception classrooms and staff room.

The design caters for future expansion, including a fourth hub which would allow for additional classrooms, a hall and staff room.
