ECE are delighted to report that planning has been approved for the extension of Colonnade House in Worthing.
The approved proposals comprise an extension to the existing digital media hub with meeting rooms, a café, additional studio’s and six apartments for emergency housing.
Colonnade House is the “creative pulse of Worthing” located in the heart of the town centre. It was built in the early 1800s, originally opening as a library and post office.
Fast forward to today and Colonnade House has been transformed into a workspace to support local artists and designers, hosting exhibitions, talks and workshops for the community to attend and connect with one another.
ECE’s design uses profiled copper green cladding panels to create a statement entrance to the new creative hub. Inspiration has been drawn from the town’s existing architecture, including the use of a light Worthing brick and curved windows.
The extension of Colonnade House will add value to the local economy by supporting small businesses and is set to become a lasting legacy for Worthing.
