ECE Architecture are working with Countryside Partnerships to provide technical delivery and site support for 115 new apartments in Belmont Street, Camden, including the discharging of existing Planning Conditions.
The proposals take an underutilised, brownfield site and develop this into an attractive and welcoming living environment in a town centre location with excellent accessibility to public transport. The site is adjacent to Chalk Farm Underground Station and in walking distance to multiple bus routes.
The project comprises 3 residential blocks varying between 5-10 storeys with 26 affordable homes which together with the site constructed by Countryside Partnerships on Crogsland Road provides 50% affordable housing across both sites and 12 inclusively designed living spaces for wheelchair users. There will be a range of apartment sizes including studios, one and two bed and larger three bed homes.
Every home will have private amenity space in the form of a terrace or balcony. Communal spaces include a landscaped garden and play areas, integrated within a series of linked ‘garden rooms’ providing a connective play trail at the heart of the site. To the north is a meeting plaza and stepped seating area.
Sustainable design features include urban greening to enhance the biodiversity of the site, energy efficiency and passive design measures to limit energy demands and CO² emissions. Plans provide a large number of cycle spaces, encouraging sustainable travel around the city.
