Interior Architecture Internship

Work experience leads to successful summer placement

Isis Dapling is a 3rd year Interior Architecture student at Oxford Brookes. Back in 2014 Isis spent a week at ECE Architecture on a school work experience placement. Following her positive experience she enrolled on her degree course, contacting ECE again this summer to propose a month long internship.

ECE are committed to providing skills and training opportunities for students and we were delighted to accept her proposal. We have a long running work experience programme based around a 5-day design project. The opportunity to extend this programme to a month, working with an interior architect student was a welcome challenge.

During her internship Isis worked with the team on a current project, developing an internal design strategy for a new secondary school. She went on to present her work to the senior members of the team and finalise proposals based on the feedback they gave. She was thrilled to have been given such responsibility, saying:

“It has been great to have a real project to work on and to know my ideas are being taken seriously. I feel like I’ve been given a real insight into the life of an architecture practice. ECE have totally immersed me into their team, inviting me to site visits, to work on current projects and presenting my ideas. The atmosphere in the office is very relaxed and fun.”
