ECE were appointed by Adur Council to develop proposals for the extension of The Shoreham Centre. The existing 1970’s Community Centre building needed to be expanded and modernised to provide a civic home for Adur Council.
The project brief was developed to include:
- A new foyer and main reception and mezzanine gallery
- A new council chamber
- Offices and meeting rooms
- Facilities for Citizens Advice Bureau and several voluntary sector organisations
- Improved access through the provision of a new lift
The new build works involved the demolition of the existing single storey flat roofed foyer and extension of the mono-pitch form of the east wing to form a unified elevation to Pond Road. This extended east wing includes the new double height foyer space with a lift and mezzanine circulation linking the existing building to the new north wing.
ECE has lead the project from feasibility study, through design and build tender to site.
